    CHEMICAL PEELS

The Chemical Peel is a procedure which involves a chemical solution that is applied to the skin which causes a layer of skin to separate and peel off. The new, regenerated skin underneath is usually smoother in texture and more even in color than the old skin.  There are various strengths and concentrations of Chemical Peels each developed for  specific indications such as wrinkles, acne, overall skin texture and skin tone.  Some
chemical peels are mild and have no down time, others are stronger and have down time for up to one week.  The stronger chemical peels are deeper and remove thicker layers of skin which result in more significant improvement of skin texture and tone.    Chemical peels can be performed on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs.

    Chemical Peel

    What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is the use of different chemical formulations (consisting of Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acid, and Triclorecetic Acid) that help disrupt the "glue" between the layers of dead skin cells. The dead skin cells then are able to flake off. This reveals smooth, soft and hydrated skin.

What skin conditions do chemical peels treat?
  • Chemical peels are often used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improve the appearance of mild scarring
  • Treat certain types of acne
  • Reduce age spots, freckles and melasma
  • Overall improving the look and feel of skin that is dull in texture and color.

    How many treatments are needed?

To obtain the best results, we recommend that a person complete a series of 6 peels spaced 3-4 weeks apart. You may purchase them as a package or as a single treatment.

What should I expect after a chemical peel?

Following a chemical peel you may expect to have slightly pink/red skin for a couple of hours. It resembles the look and feel of a mild sunburn. Approximately 2 days after a chemical peel you will notice tightening of the skin as the skin cells prepare to flake off. For the following 2-4 days you may notice flaking. This does not happen to everyone and does not determine that the peel did not work. It is NORMAL not to experience skin flaking that is able to be seen by the naked eye. You will be provided with a skin care kit to use for 10 days after the chemical peel.

The Vitalize Peel contains an unique blend of Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Panthenol and Resorcinol for strong, but gentle formulation.

SkinCeuticals gel peels contain Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Madelic acid with Mediterranean Fruit Vinegar.

Biomedic peels are formulated with Glycolic Acid.
